Configuring 802.1x Authentication

Configuring 802.1x Authentication

Pre-configuration Tasks

802.1x authentication provides a user authentication method, but needs to be implemented using AAA schemes. To implement authentication for users, an AAA scheme needs to be configured. Therefore, complete the following tasks before you configure 802.1x authentication:

  • Configure an AAA client, including the authentication domain and AAA scheme.
  • Configure the user name and password on the RADIUS server if RADIUS authentication is used.
  • Configure the user name and password on the network access device if local authentication is used.

For the configuration of AAA client, see AAA Configuration in the CloudEngine 8800, 7800, 6800, and 5800 Series Switches Configuration Guide - Security.
