Enabling 802.1x Authentication

Enabling 802.1x Authentication


You must enable 802.1x authentication before configuring it.

802.1x authentication can take effect on interfaces only after you enable 802.1x authentication both globally and on interfaces.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run dot1x enable

    802.1x authentication is enabled globally.

    By default, 802.1x authentication is disabled globally.

  3. Enable 802.1x authentication on interfaces. This command can be configured in the system view or interface view. In the system view, the command can be configured on one or more interfaces; in the interface view, the command can only be configured on a specified interface.

    By default, 802.1x authentication is disabled on interfaces.



    System view

    Run the dot1x enable interface interface-type { interface-number1 [ to interface-number2 ] } &<1-10> command to enable 802.1x authentication on interfaces.

    Interface view
    1. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to enter the interface view.

    2. Run the dot1x enable command to enable 802.1x authentication on the interface.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
