Active Notification

This capability allows a device to send active packets periodically to a client when the device is processing a time-consuming operation. This prevents a timeout when the client receives no response from the device. When the device processes a time-consuming RPC request, such as <commit> and <copy-config> operations, the device periodically sends active packets to the client, notifying the client that the device is performing the RPC request.

Capability ID

The following example shows how a device sends active packets to the client, notifying the client that a device is processing the RPC request with the message ID 101.

<active message-id="101" xmlns="">

The message ID in an active packet is the same as that in the corresponding RPC request packet.
