Enabling a Card to Perform NetStream Sampling in Enhanced Mode

Context

A card can perform NetStream sampling in either of the following two modes:
  • Non-enhanced mode: A card uses the CPU for NetStream sampling, which greatly affects CPU performance.
  • Enhanced mode: A card uses CPU built-in chip for NetStream sampling, which therefore does not affect CPU performance and improves the NetStream performance.

The FD-X, CE-L36LQ-FD, CE-L36CQ-FD, CE-L36CQ-FG, CE-L36CQ-FD1, CE-L36CQ-SD, CE-L16CQ-FD, CE-L08CF-FG1, CE-L48XS-FG, CE-L48XS-FD1, CE-L24LQ-FD, or CE-L12CQ-FD card supports NetStream sampling in enhanced mode, improving NetStream performance. In enhanced mode, when NetStream is configured in outbound and inbound directions on all the interfaces of a card and the interface rate reaches the upper limit, the recommended minimum NetStream sampling rate is 2048. In other cases, calculate the NetStream sampling rate according to the formula provided in Calculation of the NetStream Sampling Rate.

NOTE:

The CE12800E configured with ED-E, EG-E, and EGA-E series cards does not support the assign forward enp netstream enable command.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run assign forward enp netstream enable slot { slot-id | all }

    The card is enabled to perform NetStream sampling in enhanced mode.

    By default, a card performs NetStream sampling in non-enhanced mode; that is, a card uses the CPU for NetStream sampling.

    NOTE:
    • When a card performs NetStream sampling in enhanced mode, the switch cannot send NetStream packets through the management interface.

    • If both the assign forward enp netstream enable and assign forward enp sflow enable commands are run, the later one overwrites the previous one.

    • This command takes effect after the card is restarted.

  3. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
