Configuring a NETCONF Session Model

Context

A device functioning as an SSH server can set up NETCONF sessions with SSH clients. There are two types of NETCONF session models:
  • NETCONF schema model: When the device communicates with NETCONF clients through the schema model, the device sends schema packets.
  • NETCONF YANG model: When the device communicates with NETCONF clients through the YANG model, the device sends YANG packets.
If no NETCONF session model is configured or both the NETCONF YANG and schema models are configured, the device determines the NETCONF model to be used based on the Hello messages sent by NETCONF clients.
  • If the Hello message sent by a NETCONF client contains Huawei proprietary capabilities, the schema model is used.
  • If the Hello message sent by a NETCONF client does not contain Huawei proprietary capabilities, the YANG model is used.

If the NETCONF session model is set to YANG or schema, the device uses the configured session model, instead of determining the model to be used based on the capabilities in the exchanged Hello messages.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run netconf

    The NETCONF user interface view is displayed.

  3. Run work-mode { yang | schema } *

    A NETCONF session model is configured.

    By default, the NETCONF session model to be used depends on the capability set in the exchanged Hello messages.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
