Licensing Requirements and Limitations for PWE3

Licensing Requirements and Limitations for PWE3

Involved Network Elements

Other network elements are not required.

License Requirements

You can use the PWE3 feature only after the MPLS function is enabled. The MPLS function is controlled by a license. By default, MPLS is disabled on a new device. To use the MPLS function, apply for and purchase the license from the equipment supplier.

Feature Limitations

Limitations on PWE3

  • PWE3 cannot be configured on the VLANIF 1.
  • The VLANIF interface configured with PWE3 can only correspond to one member interface.
  • The device can use an LSP or a constraint-based routed label switched path (CR-LSP) to transmit the PWE3 service, but cannot load balance PWE3 service traffic between two tunnels.

Limitations on PWE3 traffic statistics

  • Starting from V100R003C00, the device supports PWE3 traffic statistics.
  • Traffic statistics collection at the PW side and that on GRE tunnel interfaces cannot take effect simultaneously.
  • Some traffic statistics data will be lost after an active/standby switchover or a card restart.

Limitations when PWE3 is used with other services

  • Only the Admin-VS in port mode supports PWE3; all VSs in group mode support PWE3.

  • LDP over SR-TE is not supported in the PWE3 scenario.
