Collecting Statistics About L3VPN Traffic

Collecting Statistics About L3VPN Traffic

L3VPN traffic statistics collection is applicable to the interface traffic at the user side of a VPN. Before collecting L3VPN traffic statistics, enable the L3VPN traffic statistics function.

  • Currently, L3VPN traffic statistics collection can count only unicast packets.
  • In L3VPN over MPLS TE scenarios, if the device is enabled to collect L3VPN traffic statistics and traffic statistics on an MPLS TE tunnel interface simultaneously, packets received from the interface bound to a VPN instance are not counted as L3VPN traffic.
  • Enabling the L3VPN traffic statistics function may affect the forwarding performance. For example, if all interfaces are configured to provide line-speed forwarding, some interfaces may be unable to forward packets at line speed. Enable this function only if necessary.
  • L3VPN traffic statistics collection is unavailable for error packets.
  • If a GE interface on a 48-port card is added to VLANs in untagged mode, the card cannot correctly collect outgoing VPN traffic statistics passing through the interface.

Perform the following steps on the device:

  1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
  2. Run the ip vpn-instance vpn-instance-name command to enter the VPN instance view.
  3. Run the traffic-statistics enable command to enable the function of collecting statistics about L3VPN traffic.
  4. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.
