Configuring the Martini VLL

The Martini VLL applies to large-scale enterprises or LANs of small-scale carriers.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring the Martini VLL, you need to complete the following tasks:

  • Configure static routes or an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) protocol for the PE and P devices on the MPLS backbone network to implement IP connectivity.

  • Enable basic MPLS capabilities on the PE and P devices and enable MPLS LDP on PEs.

    You need to set up a remote LDP session between the PEs if they are not directly connected.

Procedure

Perform the following operations on PEs at both ends of the VC.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run mpls l2vpn

    MPLS L2VPN is enabled and the MPLS L2VPN view is displayed.

  3. Run quit

    Return to the system view.

  4. Run interface vlanif vlan-id or

    The VLANIF interface view is displayed.

    Or run interface interface-type interface-number.subnum mode l2

    The Layer 2 sub-interface view is displayed.

  5. Run the encapsulation { dot1q [ vid vid ] | default | untag | qinq [ vid pe-vid ce-vid ce-vid ] | qinq vid low-pe-vid [ to high-pe-vid ] ce-vid low-ce-vid [ to high-ce-vid ] }

    The flow encapsulation type is configured to send different data packets to different interfaces.

    By default, no flow encapsulation type is configured.

    NOTE:

    This command is required only in the Layer 2 sub-interface view.

  6. Run mpls l2vc [ instance-name instance-name ] ip-address vc-id [ tunnel-policy policy-name | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | [ raw | tagged ] ] *

    A VLL connection in Martini mode is created.

    By default, no Martini L2VPN connection is created.

    NOTE:

    VCs of the same encapsulation mode on a PE must have a unique VC ID.

    If the flow encapsulation type of a Layer 2 sub-interface is set to termination, the mpls l2vc command must contain the raw parameter. If the flow encapsulation type of a Layer 2 sub-interface is set to transparent transmission, the mpls l2vc command cannot contain the raw parameter.

  7. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn service-name service-name

    A name is configured for the L2VPN service, so you can maintain the L2VPN service by clicking the name directly on the NMS graphical user interface (GUI).

  8. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn description description-text

    The description for an L2VPN is configured.

  9. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Verifying the Configuration

After completing the Martini VLL configuration, you can view Martini VLL connection information on the PEs.

  • Run the display mpls l2vc [ vc-id | interface interface-type interface-number ] command to check Martini VLL connection information on the local PE.
  • Run the display mpls l2vc remote-info [ vc-id ] command to check peer Martini VLL connection information on the local PE.
  • Run the display mpls l2vc brief command to check Martini VLL connection brief information on the local PE.
