Configuring OSPF Attributes in Different Types of Networks
Applicable Environment
- P2MP: OSPF does not default any network to a P2MP network regardless of its link layer protocol. Therefore, a P2MP network must be forcibly changed from another network type.
- NBMA: If the link layer protocol is FR, X.25, OSPF defaults the network type to NBMA.
- Broadcast: If the link layer protocol is Ethernet or FDDI, OSPF defaults the network type to broadcast.
- P2P: If the link layer protocol is PPP, HDLC, or LAPB, OSPF defaults the network type to P2P.
Without changing the layer protocols, you can change network types and configure OSPF features to flexibly build networks.
