(Optional) Configuring Transparent Transmission of MLD Messages

(Optional) Configuring Transparent Transmission of MLD Messages

Context

By default, the switch with MLD snooping proxy enabled terminates received MLD messages and learns multicast forwarding entries from the messages. If MLD snooping proxy is enabled on both upstream and downstream devices, you can configure the downstream device (the switch) to transparently transmit MLD messages received from one router port to other router ports without learning entries from the messages. This configuration can prevent entry aging from being affected by entry learning between the upstream and downstream devices.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run mld snooping proxy router-protocol-pass

The switch is configured to transparently transmit MLD messages in the VLAN.

This command takes effect only after MLD snooping proxy is enabled in the VLAN.

By default, the switch with MLD snooping proxy enabled terminates received MLD messages and learns multicast forwarding entries from the messages.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
