(Optional) Disabling the Switch from Forwarding Query Messages to Router Ports

(Optional) Disabling the Switch from Forwarding Query Messages to Router Ports

Context

After MLD snooping proxy is enabled in a VLAN, the switch periodically broadcasts MLD Query messages to all ports in the VLAN, including router ports. This may result in MLD querier reelection. When MLD is enabled on an upstream device, to prevent MLD querier reelection, disable the switch from forwarding MLD Query messages to router ports in the VLAN.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. Run mld snooping proxy-uplink-port vlan vlan-id

The switch is disabled from sending MLD Query messages to the specified MLD snooping proxy upstream port.

By default, no MLD snooping proxy upstream ports are configured in a VLAN.

Configuring this command on router ports in a VLAN can prevent MLD querier reelection.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
