Configuring Dynamic 1588v2 (Using Switches as OCs)


You can configure 1588v2 on OCs and use the BMC algorithm to determine the master-slave hierarchy between the grandmaster clock (GMC) and devices on a 1588v2 clock synchronization network.

OC Deployment

In Figure 6-17, switches function as OCs and transmit time information using 1588v2 messages to ensure time synchronization. OCs can be connected to an external clock to provide a high-precision external clock source for the devices in a PTP domain.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Set link layer protocol parameters for interfaces to ensure that the link layer protocol status of the interfaces is Up.
