Enabling the License for Cards in a Slot

Enabling the License for Cards in a Slot

Context

NOTE:

Only the CE8868EI supports this function.

The 25GE interfaces on the CE88-D24S2CQ card of the CE8868EI work at the rate of 10 Gbit/s by default. To use the 25GE interfaces working at the rate of 25 Gbit/s on this card, apply for and purchase a license from the equipment supplier. After activating the license file, enable the 25 Gbit/s rate upgrade license in the specified slot.

The registration and interface usage of the CE88-D16Q and CE88-D8CQ cards on the CE8868EI are license controlled. By default, the functions of the CE88-D16Q and CE88-D8CQ cards on the newly purchased CE8868EI are not enabled. To use the CE88-D16Q and CE88-D8CQ cards on the CE8868EI, apply for and purchase the license from the equipment supplier. After activating the license file, enable the 40GE or 100GE interface license in the specified slot.

Procedure

  1. Run system-viewThe system view is displayed.
  2. Run licenseThe license view is displayed.
  3. Enable the card license in a specified card slot.

    • Run active card-license 25G slot slot-id card card-id

The 25 Gbit/s rate upgrade license is enabled in a specified slot.

If this command is not run, the 25GE interfaces on the CE8868EI work at 10 Gbit/s.

    • Run active card-license 40G slot slot-id card card-id

The 40GE interface license is enabled in a specified slot. If this command is not run, the CE88-D16Q card on the CE8868EI cannot be registered, and 40GE interfaces are unavailable.

    • Run active card-license 100G slot slot-id card card-id

The 100GE interface license is enabled in a specified slot. If this command is not run, the CE88-D8CQ card on the CE8868EI cannot be registered, and 100GE interfaces are unavailable.

    NOTE:
    • To use multiple types of cards in a specified slot, apply for and purchase the required license and run the active card-license command multiple times based on the license type.
    • When the license for a specified type of card is disabled in a specified slot:
      • Running the undo active card-license 25G slot slot-id card card-id command will restore the port rate of the CE88-D24S2CQ card in a specified slot to 10 Gbit/s. If the switch is stacked, the stack port rate of the card remains at 25 Gbit/s.
      • Running the undo active card-license { 40G | 100G } slot slot-id card card-id command will power off the CE88-D16Q or CE88-D8CQ card in the specified slot.

  4. If a 40GE or 100GE interface license is enabled on a card, the card can be registered only being powered on.

Run power on slot slot-id card card-id

The specified card is powered on.
