Configuring the Layer 3 Resource Allocation Mode


Layer 3 resources Underlay and Overlay will affect ARP entry specifications, ND entry specifications, ECMP entry specifications, next-hop entry specifications, and Layer 3 interface entry specifications. In large-underlay mode, the device has higher common entry specifications. In large-overlay mode, the device has higher VXLAN Overlay entry specifications.


Only the CE6855HI, CE6856HI, CE6857EI, CE6865EI, CE8861EI, CE8868EI, and CE7855EI support the configuration.


  1. (Optional) Run display forward layer-3 resource

    The current Layer 3 resource allocation mode is verified.

  2. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  3. Run assign forward layer-3 resource { standard | large-underlay | large-overlay }

    The Layer 3 resource allocation mode is configured.

    By default, the Layer 3 resource allocation mode is standard mode.


    The assign forward layer-3 resource command takes effect after the switch is restarted.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
