Configuring the System Resource Mode



Only the CE5850EI, CE5855EI, CE5880EI, CE6850HI, CE6850U-HI, CE6851HI, CE6855HI, CE6856HI, CE6857EI, CE6860EI, CE6865EI, CE6880EI, CE7850EI, CE7855EI, CE8850EI, CE8860EI, CE8861EI, CE8868EI support the configuration of the system resource mode.

Chip entry resources are shared among services. When ARP, MAC, ACL or routing entries cannot meet service requirements, change the system resource mode to obtain a larger entry capacity. The following describe the different system resource modes:
  • large-mac: increases the MAC entry capacity. The large-mac mode is applicable to Layer 2 access and transparent transmission scenarios, where a device mainly forwards Layer 2 unicast packets as well as broadcast, unknown unicast, and multicast (BUM) packets. This mode provides a larger MAC entry space and is often used at the access or aggregation layer (with the gateway deployed at the core layer).

  • large-route: increases the routing entry capacity. The large-route mode is applicable to the core layer of a Layer 3 network and enables a device to learn a large number of network segment routes for Layer 3 forwarding.

  • large-arp: increases the ARP entry capacity. The large-arp mode is applicable to the access or aggregation layer with Layer 3 gateway deployed or the core layer of a small-scale network, and is mainly used for Layer 3 forwarding on directly connected network segments.

  • super-arp: increases the ARP entry capacity. The super-arp mode supports more ARP entries than the large-arp mode.

  • large-acl: increases the ACL entry capacity.

  • standard: This is the default mode.

  • user-defined: allows you to define resource specifications using files.

  • uft-hybrid: allows you to configure two types of entries each to occupy half of UFT resources.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. (Optional) Run display system resource

    The system resource mode is displayed.

  3. Configure the system resource mode.

    • (CE5850EI) system resource { large-mac | standard | user-defined }
    • (CE5855EI) system resource { large-mac | large-arp | super-arp | standard | user-defined }
    • (CE6857EI, CE6865EI, CE8850-64CQ-EI, CE8861EI, CE8868EI) system resource { large-mac | standard | large-arp | large-acl }
    • (CE7850EI, CE7855EI, CE6850HI, CE6850U-HI, CE6851HI, CE6855HI, CE6856HI) system resource { large-route | standard | large-arp }
    • (CE6860EI, CE8850-32CQ-EI, CE8860EI) system resource { large-route | standard | large-arp | large-acl }
    • (CE6880EI, CE5880EI) system resource { large-mac | standard | large-route }
    • (CE6857EI, CE6860EI, CE6865EI, CE8850EI, CE8860EI, CE8861EI, CE8868EI) system resource uft-hybrid { acl { arp | mac | route } | arp { acl | mac } | mac { acl | arp | route } | route { acl | mac } }

    By default, the standard system resource mode is used. After changing the system resource mode, restart the device for the modification to take effect.

  4. (Optional) Run assign forward acl resource { epg | dpp }

    The system assigns ACL entries in the UFT flexible resource mode of ACL entries to the specified service.

    By default, the system assigns ACL entries to the MQC service after the system resource mode is set to the UFT flexible resource mode of ACL entries.

    • Only the CE6857EI, CE6865EI, CE8861EI, and CE8868EI support this configuration.
    • The CE6857EI does not support the dpp parameter.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

  6. Run quit

    Exit from the system view.

  7. Run reboot

    The device is restarted to make the configuration take effect.
