Licensing Requirements

For the CE6865EI and CE8850-64CQ-EI, 1588v2 is controlled by a license and is disabled by default. To use the 1588v2 function, apply for and purchase the license from the equipment supplier.

For the CE6880EI, in versions earlier than V200R005C10, 1588v2 is a basic switch feature and is not under license control. In V200R005C10 and later versions, 1588v2 is controlled by a license and is disabled by default. To use 1588v2 on the CE6880EI, apply for and purchase the license from the equipment supplier.

Feature Limitations

  • To achieve time synchronization, all devices on a link must support 1588v2. Currently, a maximum of 20 devices are allowed on a link for time synchronization.
  • Ports that do not have 1588v2 enabled transparently forward received MAC-encapsulated 1588v2 packets.
  • For the CE6880EI, the ports obtained after port splitting do not support 1588v2.
  • On the CE8850-64CQ-EI running a version earlier than V200R005C10, the ports obtained after port splitting do not support 1588v2. On the CE8850-64CQ-EI running V200R005C10 or a later version, the ports obtained after port splitting support 1588v2.
  • On the CE6865EI running a version earlier than V200R019C00, the ports obtained after port splitting do not support 1588v2. On the CE6865EI running V200R019C00 or a later version, the ports obtained after port splitting support 1588v2.
  • When a CE6880EI is upgraded from V200R005C00 to V200R005C10 or a later version, the existing 1588v2 configuration is not affected, but the 1588v2 configuration cannot be added or modified. You are advised to apply for and load a 1588v2 license after the upgrade.
