(Optional) Configuring Sampling Parameters of Micro-Burst Monitoring

(Optional) Configuring Sampling Parameters of Micro-Burst Monitoring

When Telemetry sampling and subscription based on micro-burst monitoring are created successfully, you can configure sampling parameters of micro-burst monitoring.

Context

Sampling parameters of micro-burst monitoring include the lower buffer threshold and sampling interval.

  • Lower buffer threshold:

When either of the following conditions is met, the switch considers that a micro-burst occurs and records micro-burst information, including the micro-burst occurrence time and corresponding queue buffer usage:
    • The read queue buffer usage is higher than or equal to the configured lower threshold for the buffer usage, and the difference between the read queue buffer usage and the latest recorded queue buffer usage is larger than 2%.
    • The read queue buffer usage is higher than or equal to the configured lower threshold for the buffer usage, and the difference between the micro-burst occurrence time and the latest recorded micro-burst occurrence time exceeds 1s.
  • Sampling interval:

    • For devices excluding the CE5880EI, CE8860EI, CE8850EI, and CE6880EI, the sampling interval of micro-burst monitoring is configured by specifying sample-interval in the sensor-group command.
    • For the CE5880EI and CE6880EI, the sampling interval of micro-burst monitoring is 2 ms.
    • For the CE8860EI and CE8850EI:
      • If the qos buffer-monitoring enable command is not used to enable queue-based congestion monitoring, the sampling interval of micro-burst monitoring is configured by specifying sample-interval in the sensor-group command.
      • If the qos buffer-monitoring enable command is used to enable queue-based congestion monitoring, the sampling interval of micro-burst monitoring is 2 ms.

Procedure

  1. Configure the Lower buffer threshold.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

      The interface view is displayed.

    3. Run qos [ queue queue-index ] buffer-monitoring percent low low-percent high high-percent

The upper and lower buffer thresholds are configured.

By default, the lower buffer threshold is 10% of the queue buffer space and the upper buffer threshold is 90% of the queue buffer space.

    4. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  2. Configure the Sampling interval.
    1. For the CE8860EI and CE8850EI:

      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

        The interface view is displayed.

      3. Run qos buffer-monitoring parse enable

Congestion analysis is enabled on an interface.

By default, congestion analysis is disabled on an interface.

      4. Run quit

        Return to the system view.

      5. Run commit

        The configuration is committed.

    2. For CE switches excluding the CE5880EI and CE6880EI:

      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run telemetry

        The Telemetry view is displayed.

      3. Run subscription subscription-name

A subscription is created to associate the destination group and the sampling path, and the subscription view is displayed.

By default, no subscription is created to associate the destination group and the sampling path.

      4. Run sensor-group sensor-name sample-interval sample-interval

The sensor group is associated, and a sampling interval is configured for the sensor group.

By default, no sampling interval is configured for the sampling sensor.

      5. Run commit

        The configuration is committed.
