Execute CLI

Execute CLI

This capability allows a device to interact with the request sender when the device is processing requests.

Capability ID

<capability>http://www.huawei.com/netconf/capability/execute-cli/1.0</capability>

A NETCONF client requests a device to execute command lines through the <execute-cli> operation. An RPC request contains a maximum of 60 command lines, with the longest character string length being 512 bytes. If an error occurs when the <execute-cli> operation is performed, other commands in the RPC request cannot be executed.

The following example shows how a NETCONF client requests a device to execute the display saved-configuration time command through the <execute-cli> operation.

  • RPC request

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rpc message-id="11" xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0">
      <execute-cli "http://www.huawei.com/netconf/capability/base/1.0">
          <cmd>
            <id>1</id>
            <cmdline>display saved-configuration time</cmdline>
          </cmd>
      </execute-cli>
    </rpc>
  • RPC reply

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rpc-reply message-id="11" xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0">
      <data>
        <cmd>
          <id>1</id>
          <cmdline>display saved-configuration time</cmdline>
          <result>success</result>
          <display-result>Info: The current configuration has not been saved manually or automatically since system rebooted or master/slave switchover.
    </display-result>
        </cmd>
      </data>
    </rpc-reply>
