Feature Limitations

  • The prerequisite for packet loss and delay measurement is time synchronization among all devices. Therefore, before configuring iPCA on edge devices of a network, configure the Network Time Protocol (NTP) or 1588v2 on the devices.
    • If 1588v2 has been deployed on a network, it is the best choice for periodic time synchronization in iPCA.

    • To implement unidirectional delay measurement, configure the precise time synchronization protocol, 1588v2.

  • The measurement instance parameters of a DCP must be the same as the parameters of the same measurement instance on the MCP; otherwise, the DCP cannot send statistics data to the MCP.
  • Packet loss measurement and delay measurement cannot use the same color bit. Before you specify a color bit, ensure that this bit is not occupied by other services.
  • In performance measurement for VXLAN:
    • Both ends of a VXLAN tunnel must be configured as the TLPs when you collect packet statistics on this VXLAN tunnel.
    • A measurement instance cannot cover both IP and VXLAN networks.
  • End-to-end performance measurement can be configured on eSight, but hop-by-hop performance measurement cannot be configured on eSight.
