Application Scenarios for Discarded Packet Capture

Application Scenarios for Discarded Packet Capture

Enterprise networks have various services, and packet loss frequently occurs. Currently, the device only records the number of discarded packets, but not detailed information about the packets. Enterprise users want to know details about the discarded packets, so that they can analyze the impact on services and locate network faults in a timely manner. The discarded packet capture function captures the packets discarded in the device chip during forwarding and congestion, and sends the captured packets to the CPU. The device then analyzes the packet characteristics. The analysis results can be sent to a collector through a GRPC interface, facilitating discarded packet analysis.

In Figure 12-1, the discarded packet capture function can be enabled and a Telemetry sampling path can be configured to send information about the captured discarded packets to a collector through a GRPC interface.
