Feature Limitations

When CFM is used in combination with other features, it has the following limitations:

  • CFM and M-LAG cannot be configured simultaneously.

CFM has the following limitations:

  • After CC is configured to be based on the directly connected interface, if a CC that is based on the interface number and VLAN ID is also configured on the same link, ensure that outgoing CCMs are tagged.

  • When there is an MIP interface on the receiver in a VLAN, LT packets cannot reach the MEP and MEP information cannot be obtained.

  • The following limitations apply to the interval at which a MEP sends or detects CCMs:

    • If the interval is 50 ms, a maximum of 10 MEPs on the switch can be enabled to send CCMs and a maximum of two interfaces on each MEP can send CCMs.

    • If the interval is 100 ms, a maximum of 100 MEPs on the switch excluding the CE5855EI, CE5850HI, and CE5810EI can be enabled to send CCMs and a maximum of two interfaces on each MEP can send CCMs.

    • If the interval is 100 ms, a maximum of 50 MEPs on the CE5855EI, CE5850HI, and CE5810EI can be enabled to send CCMs and a maximum of two interfaces on each MEP can send CCMs.

    • If the interval is 1000 ms or 10000 ms, a maximum of 1000 MEPs on the switch excluding the CE5855EI, CE5850HI, and CE5810EI can be enabled to send CCMs and a maximum of two interfaces on each MEP can send CCMs.

    • If the interval is 1000 ms or 10000 ms, a maximum of 500 MEPs on the CE5855EI, CE5850HI, and CE5810EI can be enabled to send CCMs and a maximum of two interfaces on each MEP can send CCMs.

  • In the SVF, the interval for sending or detecting CCMs is determined by the spine node. If all MEPs are configured on the leaf node, the interval for sending or detecting CCMs is determined by the leaf node.

  • The recommended interval for sending or detecting CCMs is at least 1000 ms. If the interval is smaller than 1000 ms, network flapping may occur when the device load is heavy or the CPU usage is high.

  • On a device except the CE6870EI and CE6875EI, heavy burst traffic causes CFM flapping, and CFM flapping is eliminated after traffic becomes stable. You are advised to run the ccm-interval command to increase the interval for sending or detecting CCMs.
