What Can I Do If Message "Failed" Is Displayed in the Back up application data or Delete application data backup Step and No Execution Detail Is Displayed When I Perform a Planned Migration or Failover

Symptom

Message Failed is displayed in the Back up application data or Delete application data backup step and no execution detail is displayed when planned migration or failover is executed. For example, Figure 8-4 shows the execution result of the Back up application data step.

Possible Causes

The array's storage capacity is insufficient or snapshot IDs overlap.

NOTE:
  • Perform the following operations if the message is displayed in the Back up application data step: Back up application data before mapping LUNs and create a snapshot for the secondary LUN to prevent data of the secondary LUN from being lost or damaged when applications are started.
  • Perform the following operations if the message is displayed in the Delete application data backup step: Delete snapshots after starting applications.

Procedure

  1. The failure in the Back up application data or Delete application data backup step does not affect DR services. The execution result can be ignored.

Suggestion and Summary

You can view the eReplication run logs to understand the details of the step execution. The run logs are saved to the eReplication installation directory/LegoRuntime/logs/DRM/ directory.
