Configuring the Cloud Platform Quorum Service

Configuring the Cloud Platform Quorum Service

After HA mode is deployed on the eReplication Server, the HA cloud platform quorum service can be configured. You can configure the cloud platform quorum service only in cloud server HA scenarios.

Prerequisites

  • A cross-platform remote access tool, such as PuTTY, has been obtained.
  • You have obtained the password of user root used to log in to the Linux operating system of the management node on which the cloud platform quorum service is to be configured.
  • You have obtained the certificate of the cloud platform quorum server.
    NOTE:

Path to the quorum server certificate of the cloud platform is /opt/arbitration-etcd/keystore/ca.crt.

  • You have obtained the IP address, user name, password, and certificate of the cloud platform quorum server, the local DC name, AZ name corresponding to the local DC, peer DC name, and AZ name corresponding to the peer DC.

Context

  • The arbitration service must be configured on both the active and standby servers and can be effective only after the system restarts.
  • You are advised to configure an odd number of cloud platform quorum servers though there is no limitation on the number of configured cloud platform quorum servers.
  • When the active server is being restarted, the standby server may be switched to the active one. To avoid this, stop the standby server before configuring the arbitration service on the active server.
  • After the arbitration service is configured, run the sh configArbitration.sh -a command or sh configArbitration.sh -d command to check or delete the arbitration service. The arbitration service must be deleted from both the active and standby servers and deletion is effective only after the system restarts. For details, see Querying the Cloud Platform Quorum Service Information and Deleting the Cloud Platform Quorum Service.
  • Before configuring the arbitration service, use a file transfer tool, such as WinSCP, to copy the arbitration service's certificate to a local directory. In template-based deployment mode, directory /home/DRManager/Runtime/LegoRuntime/certs is recommended.
  • The SFTP service is disabled, by default. Enable this service before the upload. Otherwise, the copy will fail.
    1. Run the vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config command to edit file sshd_config.
    2. Locate the row that contains sftp, delete # at the beginning of the row, and save the file.
    3. Run the service sshd restart command to restart the SFTP service.

Procedure

  1. Use PuTTY to log in to the eReplication Server management server.

    • In template-based installation mode: Log in as user DRManager, and run the su root command to switch to user root.
    • In software package-based installation mode: Log in as user root.
    NOTE:
The default password of user DRManager is Huawei@CLOUD8. In template-based installation mode, the default password of user root is Huawei@CLOUD8!.

  2. Run the following command to prevent PuTTY from logging out because of timeout.

    TMOUT=0

    NOTE:
After the preceding command is executed, the system keeps running even when no operations are performed, resulting in security risks. To ensure system security, run the exit command to exit the system after performing your operations.

  3. Run the following command to go to the save directory of the script.

    cd /opt/BCManager/Runtime/bin

    NOTE:

In Linux, the installation path of the eReplication Server is /opt/BCManager. The path is fixed.

  4. Run the following command to configure the cloud platform quorum service.

    sh configArbitration.sh

The following command output is displayed:

You are about to configure cloud platform quorum servers.
The configuration will take effect only after the DR system restarts. The DR protection services configured during the restart of the DR system are invalid. After the DR system restarts, the switchover logic of the DR HA service will be affected.
Note that the configured gateway IP address will be deleted after the cloud platform quorum server is configured.

Suggestion: Perform this operation when no protection task is being executed and restart the DR system after the cloud platform quorum server configuration.

Are you sure you want to configure cloud platform quorum servers? (y/n): [y]

  5. Type y and press Enter, or directly press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter the number of cloud platform quorum servers:

  6. Configure the number (an odd number preferred) of the cloud platform quorum servers and press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

According to the order of priority, enter the IP address and port number of each cloud platform quorum server in sequence(format: IP address:port number):

  7. According to the order of priority, enter the IP address and port number of each cloud platform quorum server in sequence in the format of IP address:port number, and press Enter.

    • The port number: 2379.
    • The IP address of the cloud platform quorum server must be different from the local IP address.
    NOTE:
    • The priority of active eReplication servers is as follows: Public Cloud Quorum Server>Cloud Quorum Server at the Active Site>Cloud Quorum Server at the Standby Site.
    • The priority of standbyeReplication servers is as follows: Public Cloud Quorum Server>Cloud Quorum Server at the Standby Site>Cloud Quorum Server at the Active Site.

After the IP addresses and port numbers of all cloud platform quorum servers are set, the following command out put is displayed:

Please enter the absolute path to the certificate of cloud platform quorum servers:

  8. Enter the full path to the cloud platform quorum server certificate and press Enter.

    Example: /home/DRManager/Runtime/LegoRuntime/certs/ca.crt.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter the user name of the quorum server:

  9. Enter the user name of the cloud platform quorum server and press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter the password of the quorum server:
    NOTE:

The default user name of the cloud platform quorum server is arbiterClient.

  10. Enter the password of the cloud platform quorum server and press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter the local DC name:
    NOTE:

The default password of the cloud platform quorum server is Zshw3@DH.

  11. Enter the local DC name and press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter one or multiple local AZ names. If multiple AZ names are entered, separate them with commas (,):

  12. Enter the AZ names corresponding to the local DC and separate them with commas (,). Then press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter the peer DC name:

  13. Enter the name of the peer DC and press Enter.

The following command output is displayed:

Please enter one or multiple peer AZ names. If multiple AZ names are entered, separate them with commas (,):

  14. Enter the AZ names corresponding to the peer DC and separate them with commas (,). Then press Enter.

The configuration is successful if the following command output is displayed.

    Configuring the system... Please wait.

    Configuration succeeded.
Please restart DR system to make the configuration effective.
Are you sure to restart the DR system immediately? (y/n): [y]

  15. Enter y and press Enter, or directly press Enter. Restart the eReplication service to make the arbitration service configuration takes effect.
