Exporting Logs of the eReplication Agent

Function

This operation exports logs of the eReplication Agent on the host where protected objects reside.

Format

  • Windows: agentcli.exe collectlog
  • Linux/AIX/HP-UX: /home/rdadmin/Agent/bin/agentcli collectlog
  • Solaris: /export/home/rdadmin/Agent/bin/agentcli collectlog

Parameters

Usage Guidelines

  • Windows
    1. Log in as an administrator to the application server where the eReplication Agent is installed.
    2. Open the CLI and run the cd Agent installation path\bin command.
    3. Run the agentcli.exe collectlog command to export logs of the eReplication Agent.
      C:\BCManager\Runtime\bin>agentcli.exe collectlog
      This operation allows you to collect debugging logs of Agent running on this host. The collected logs can be used to analyze the operating status of Agent.
      Continue?(y/n):y
    4. Enter y to start exporting logs.
      The exported logs are saved to the installation path\tmp directory.
      Logs are collected in C:\BCManager\Runtime\tmp\sysinfo20160106174534.zip
  • Linux/AIX/HP-UX is used as an example
    1. Use PuTTY to log in as root to the application server where the eReplication Agent is installed.
    2. Run the TMOUT=0 command to prevent PuTTY from exiting due to session timeout.
      NOTE:

      After you run this command, the system continues to run when no operation is performed, resulting a risk. For security purposes, you are advised to run exit to exit the system after completing your operations.

    3. Run the su - rdadmin command to switch to user rdadmin.
    4. Run the /home/rdadmin/Agent/bin/agentcli collectlog command to export logs of the eReplication Agent.

      # /home/rdadmin/Agent/bin/agentcli collectlog
      This operation allows you to collect debugging logs of Agent running on this host. The collected logs can be used to analyze the operating status of Agent.
      Continue?(y/n):# 
    5. Enter y to start exporting logs.
      The exported logs are saved to the /home/rdadmin/Agent/tmp directory.
      Logs are collected in /home/rdadmin/Agent/tmp/sysinfo20160106174110.tar.gz

Linux is used as an example.

linux87:/home/rdadmin/Agent/bin/agentcli collectlog
