Adding vCenter Servers

Adding vCenter Servers

If protected objects are VMware VMs, you need to add vCenter servers to the site.

Prerequisites

  • A site has been created.
  • The vCenter version information has been checked as instructed in VMware VMs.
  • The vCenter administrator accounts that are required for adding vCenter servers have been obtained. For vSphere vCenter 5.0 and 5.1, the default account is administrator. For vSphere vCenter 5.5, the default account is administrator@vsphere.local after vSphere SSO is installed.
  • The host used to add vCenter servers has added the discovery port to the firewall exceptions. The default port is 443.
  • The vCenter servers to be added have not been added to any site.

Context

vCenter servers that need to be managed must be added.

Procedure

  1. On the menu bar, select Resources.
  2. In the navigation tree, select the site where vCenter servers are to be added.
  3. Select Add vCenter Server.

    • Method 1: In the Resource Statistics, click Add vCenter Server.

    • Method 2: In the navigation tree, select vCenter Server. Then click Add vCenter Server.

  4. Optional: Select Apply the port, username, and password of the first row to the newly added row.. The system will copy the port number, username, and password of the vCenter server in the first line to the new line to avoid repeated inputs.
  5. Set parameters for vCenter servers to be added as described in Table 5-171.

Prerequisite and Result

In the line where the vCenter server resides, click More > Modify on the Operation list. In the Modify Device Information dialog box that is displayed, modify the name or authentication information of the vCenter server.

If authentication information of an vCenter server is modified, you need to synchronize the latest information to eReplication in time to ensure successful running of subsequent DR protection services.

In the line where the vCenter server resides, click More > Delete on the Operation list.

If one vCenter server is no longer needed, you can delete it.

In the line where the vCenter server resides, click Refresh on the Operation list.
