Checking License Files

Checking License Files

eReplication adopts many value-added features of Huawei storage, ensuring data consistency along with the DR process. To use these features, you need to obtain and import the license files of them and eReplication.

Context

  • Without importing a license, you can use all DR services for the first 90 days. After that, you can only use functions provided by the basic edition.
  • If the clone (SAN) DR is used for DR protection or recovery, licenses for array clone must be imported to the storage device.
  • If the snapshot (SAN) or snapshot (NAS) DR is used for DR protection or recovery, licenses for array snapshot must be imported to the storage device.
  • If the snapshot (VIS) DR is used for DR protection or recovery, licenses for VIS snapshot must be imported to the storage device.

Procedure

  1. Based on the DR technology you use, check whether required licenses (for array-based remote replication, array snapshot, or integrated backup) are imported to the storage devices.

The following operation introduces how to check license files using OceanStor 18500 V300R003C20 as an example.

    1. Log in to OceanStor DeviceManager.
    2. In the navigation tree on the right, click Setting.
    3. In the Basic Service Settings area, click License Management.

The License Management page is displayed.

    4. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Activate License.

In the information display area on the middle, view information about the activated license files to ensure whether licenses for remote replication, snapshot, or integrated backup are included.

      NOTE:
If no license is available, purchase and import a license file. For details, see the license application guide corresponding to the storage device.

  2. Based on the DR technology you use, check whether required licenses for remote replication (VIS) or snapshot (VIS) are imported to the storage device.

The following operation uses VIS6600T V200R003C00 as an example.

    1. Log in to the ISM.
    2. In the navigation tree, choose All Devices > VIS6600T > System Configure.
    3. In the Basic area, click License Management.

The License Management dialog box is displayed.

    4. In the License File Information area, view information about the license files to ensure whether licenses for remote replication or VM snapshot are included.

      NOTE:
If the licenses are not included, see the OceanStor VIS6600T V200R003 Installation Guide to apply for and import licenses.

  3. Check the licenses for eReplication.
    1. Log in to eReplication as a user with management permissions.
    2. On the menu bar, choose Settings.
    3. In the navigation tree, choose License Management > License Management.
    4. In the information display area on the middle, view information about license files to check whether the license files are imported.

      • If yes, no further action is required.
      • If no, go to 3.e.

    5. Click Import and select license files to be activated.

The system automatically checks the format and content of license files. If the check passes, the system automatically activates the imported licenses.

      NOTE:
For details about how to apply for licenses, see the OceanStor BCManager 6.5.0 eReplication License Application Guide.

    6. After the license files are imported, check whether they are what you apply for.
    7. Optional: Click Export. You can save the license files locally for easy backup.
