Failed to Concurrently Execute the Recovery Plan in the VMware+FusionStorage Active/Standby Replication Scenarios

Failed to Concurrently Execute the Recovery Plan in the VMware+FusionStorage Active/Standby Replication Scenarios

Symptom

Multiple VMware+FusionStorage active/standby replication protection groups are created. Each protected group protects multiple VMware VMs. The recovery plan test fails to be executed for multiple protected groups at the same time.

Possible Causes

The performance of the VMware ESX host is insufficient. As a result, some VMware interfaces are executed for a long time and an error is reported.

Fault Diagnosis

During a protected group test, use VSphere Client to log in to vCenter and view the recent tasks of the active and standby vCenter. As shown in the following figure, if a task is blocked for a long time, the VMware ESX performance may be insufficient. As a result, the execution takes more than 10 minutes.

Procedure

  1. Log in to VSphere Client and ensure that operations has been performed on vCenter.

If a task is in the execution state, new requests may be blocked.

  2. Log in to BCManager, select Recovery, select the recovery plans that fail to be executed, click More, and click Clear. Clear the corresponding recovery plans one by one.

  3. During the cleanup, an error may occur due to data inconsistency.

In this case, you need to manually delete the VMs created in the test from the standby vCenter.
    1. Log in to the standby VSphere Client and select the VM created during the test. If the VM is powered on, right-click the VM and choose Power > Power Off from the shortcut menu.
    2. The VM is shut down. Right-click the VM and choose Delete from Disk from the shortcut menu. Delete the VM.
    3. After the deletion is successful, log in to BCManager, click Recovery, select the recovery plan that fails to be tested, click More, and select Clear.
