Changing the Management IP Address of eReplication

Changing the Management IP Address of eReplication

This operation changes the management IP address of eReplication based on the network planning when network settings are to be adjusted after eReplication is built.

Prerequisites

  • A cross-platform remote access tool, such as PuTTY, has been obtained.
  • If the eReplication management server runs Linux, the password of user root or DRManager has been obtained.
    NOTE:

The default password of user DRManager is Huawei@CLOUD8. In template-based installation mode, the default password of user root is Huawei@CLOUD8!.

  • If the eReplication management server runs Windows, the password of the administrator has been obtained.
  • The new management IP address, subnet mask, and gateway that are planned for the eReplication management server have been obtained.

Context

Changing the password will interrupt certain services. Perform this operation when no service is running.

Procedure

  • Changing the management IP address of the eReplication management server in Linux
    1. Modify the network configuration.

      1. Use PuTTY to log in to the eReplication VM.
        • In template-based installation mode: Log in as user DRManager, and run the su root command to switch to user root.
        • In software package-based installation mode: Log in as user root.
        NOTE:
This section uses eReplication that is deployed on a VM as an example. If eReplication is deployed on a physical server, log in to the BMC user interface of the server for this operation.
      2. Run the TMOUT=0 command to prevent PuTTY from exiting due to session timeout.
        NOTE:

After you run this command, the system continues to run when no operation is performed, resulting a risk. For security purposes, you are advised to run exit to exit the system after completing your operations.

      3. Run the yast command to go to the configuration page.

      4. Choose Network Devices > Network Settings to go to the network configuration page.
      5. Press Tab to move the cursor to Edit and go to the network adapter configuration page.

      6. Manually configure the IP address, subnet mask, and node name.
        • IP Address: newly planned management plane IP address of eReplication.
        • Subnet Mask: newly planned subnet mask of eReplication.
      7. Press Tab to move the cursor to Next. The network adapter configuration page is displayed.
      8. Type Alt+U to go to the Routing page. In Default Gateway, enter the management plane gateway.
      9. Move the cursor to OK and press Enter. The network configuration page is displayed.
      10. Move the cursor to Quit and press Enter. The network of eReplication is changed.

    2. Restart the process.

      1. Run cd/ installation path/Runtime/bin to enter the script save path.
        NOTE:
The default installation path of eReplication is /opt/BCManager.
      2. Run the sh shutdownSystem.sh command to stop eReplication.
eReplication is stopped successfully if the following command output is displayed:
The DR system is shut down successfully.
      3. Validate the new IP address.
        • GUI: run the sh changeweb.sh command.
        • CLI: run the sh clichangeweb.sh command.
In Linux, a password can be changed on the CLI.
        NOTE:
Run the startx command. If the following information is not displayed, the system supports the X Window System.
        Command not found
      4. Run the cd command to exit the directory.
      5. Run the vi /etc/hosts command to open the hosts file.
      6. Press i to go to the edit mode and edit the hosts file.
      7. Change the IP address to the modified management IP address and the host name of the IP address is the modified host name.
        NOTE:

Run the ipconfig command to view the current IP address; run the hostname command to view the current host name.

      8. Press Esc, and run the :wq! command to save the change and exit.
      9. Run cd/ installation path/Runtime/bin to enter the script save path.
        NOTE:
The default installation path of eReplication is /opt/BCManager.
      10. Run the sh startSystem.sh command to start the eReplication.
eReplication is started successfully if the following command output is displayed:
        System started completely.
      11. Check whether eReplication is added to another eReplication as the remote management server.
        • If yes, go to 3.
        • If no, no further action is required.

    3. Change the management IP address of the remote management server.

      1. Log in to the local eReplication and On the menu bar, select Resources. that have been added.
      2. Select the modified remote management server, and click in the shortcut operation button area.
      3. In IP Address, enter the new management IP address and click OK.

  • Changing the management IP address of the eReplication management server in Windows
    1. Log in to the eReplication management server as an administrator.
    2. Modify the network configuration.

      1. Right-lick the icon in the lower right corner of the desktop, and choose Open Network and Sharing Center from the shortcut menu.
      2. In the View you active networks area, click Local Area Connection.
      3. In the Local Area Connection Status dialog box, click Properties.
      4. In the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
      5. On the General tab page, change the management IP address of the eReplication management server to the newly planned IP address.
      6. After the IP address has been changed, click OK.

    3. Restart the process.

      1. Go to the \installation path\Runtime\bin directory.
      2. Double-click the shutdownSystem.bat file to stop the eReplication Server.
      3. Double-click the changeweb.bat file to validate the new IP address.
      4. Double-click the startSystem.vbe file to start the eReplication Server.
      5. Check whether eReplication is added to another eReplication as the remote management server.
        • If yes, go to 4.
        • If no, no further action is required.

    4. Change the management IP address of the remote management server.

      1. Log in to the local eReplication and On the menu bar, select Resources. that have been added.
      2. Select the modified remote management server, and click in the shortcut operation button area.
      3. In IP Address, enter the new management IP address and click OK.
