Partial Oracle Database Information on the Host Cannot Be Obtained When the Host Is Detected

Partial Oracle Database Information on the Host Cannot Be Obtained When the Host Is Detected

Symptom

When the eReplication system detects a host, part of the Oracle database information on the host cannot be obtained.

Possible Causes

On a non-Windows host, for Oracle 11g or later, two databases whose names are the same, except for letter cases (for example: testDB and testdb), are created. The two databases correspond to different instances. As a result, when the eReplication Agent resolves the Oracle database list of the host, an exception occurs.

Fault Diagnosis

You need to manually the relationship between database instances and database names.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the host on which Oracle databases reside.
  2. Create the oracleinfo.cfg file under the /home/rdadmin/Agent/conf directory, and configure the relationship between database instances and database names.

The content format of the file is ${instanceName} ${DBName}. You need to write as many lines as the number of database instances in the oracleinfo.cfg file.
    • instanceName: database instance name
    • DBName: database name

  3. Set the owner of the /home/rdadmin/Agent/conf/oracleinfo.cfg file to rdadmin, and assign read and write permissions to rdadmin.
    1. Run the chown rdadmin /home/rdadmin/Agent/conf/oracleinfo.cfg command to set the owner of the oracleinfo.cfg file to rdadmin.
    2. Run the chmod 600 /home/rdadmin/Agent/conf/oracleinfo.cfg command to set permissions on oracleinfo.cfg to 600.
  4. Refresh the host on eReplication, and check whether the relationship between databases in the Oracle database list and database instances is correct.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
