Installing the eReplication Server on a Windows-based Host

Installing the eReplication Server on a Windows-based Host

This operation installs the eReplication Server on a Windows-based host on the GUI.

Prerequisites

  • A qualified VM or physical server is ready and the required operating system has been installed on it. For details about the requirements, see Deployment Environment Requirements.
  • The software packages, reference documentation, and tools required by the eReplication Server have been obtained. For details, see Obtaining Installation Packages and Documentation.
  • The signature file and digital signature public key have been obtained and the software integrity has been verified.
    1. On the page for downloading the eReplication software package, you can download the .asc digital signature file whose name is the same as that of the software package.
    2. You have used the digital signature public key and verification tool provided by the website to verify the digital signature of the software package. You can obtain the digital signature public key, verification tool, and their usage methods from:
  • The administrator password for the operating system running on the VM or physical server where eReplication Server is to be installed has been obtained.
  • The operating system of the server where the eReplication Server is installed has been hardened. For details about how to harden operating systems, see OceanStor BCManager6.5.0eReplication Security Hardening Guide.

Context

  • To ensure normal operation of the remote DR function, ensure that the same eReplication Server is installed at the production and DR centers.
  • If the protected object is FusionSphere OpenStack, ensure that the server time of the installed eReplication Server and that of the OpenStack server are the same.
  • Google Chrome set restrictions on some ports. If such ports are used on the web-based eReplication Server and Google Chrome is used to access the eReplication services, error message ERR_UNSATE_PORT will be displayed on the page. This error is not caused by eReplication. Therefore, eReplication web service ports need to be modified.
  • The system time stability of the server is important for the eReplication Server. Do not change the system time during the operation of the eReplication Server. If system time-hopping occurs, you need to restart the eReplication Server. For details about how to restart the eReplication Server, see Starting the eReplication Server.
NOTE:

This section uses OceanStor_BCManager_ 6.5.0_eReplication_for_Windows.zip as an example. Version numbers in the preceding software packages vary with site conditions.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the firewall is enabled.

    • If no, ensure whether the firewall is required.
    • If yes, see OceanStor BCManager 6.5.0 eReplication Communication Matrix to open firewall ports on the server where the eReplication Server is to be installed. For details about how to open the firewall ports, see Configuring the Firewall.

  2. Log in as administrator to the server where the eReplication Server is to be installed.
  3. Copy the eReplication Server installation package to the server where the eReplication Server is to be installed.

The name of the directory where the eReplication Server installation package resides can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), periods (.), and one space.

  4. Decompress OceanStor_BCManager_ 6.5.0_eReplication_for_Windows.zip and double-click install.bat in the directory to which the package is decompressed.
  5. Select I have read the copyright statement and agree to the terms and click Next.

  6. Select the components that you want to install and click Next.

    NOTE:
The eReplication Server provides the following components:
    • Base management components: offer functions such as system settings, alarm monitoring, DR protection, configuration restoration, and DR report and provide an integration environment for running DR service components.
    • FusionSphere DR management component: provides DR for FusionSphere.
    • Application DR management component: provides DR for Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, LUNs, and local file systems.
    • VMware vSphere DR management component: provides DR protection for VMware vSphere.

  7. View the basic system information, configure HTTPS port and make sure it passes the check, and click Next.

  8. Set the database file directory, database port number, administrator password, and administrator username and password of the BCManager DBA, and click Next.

    NOTE:
    • The database file directory name contains only letters, digits, hyphens (-), underscores (_), and periods (.).
    • The database administrator has the highest database permission, including all system and object permissions. The administrator account has been created by the system by default. The user name is GaussDB and the default password is Gaussdb_123. During installation, you need to change the password to a user-defined one and record it for future maintenance. If you need to change the password in the future, see Changing the Password of a Database Account. The new password must meet the following complexity requirements:
      • Contains 8 to 15 characters.
      • Contains at least one special character from ~!@#$%*-_=+\[{}];:,./?
      • Must contain at least two of the following types of characters:
        • Uppercase letters
        • Lowercase letters
        • Digits
      • Cannot be the same as the default database password Gaussdb_123.
    • BCManager DBA is the database account created during the installation. It is used for BCManager to access the database. The user name and password can be customized. The user name consists of 4 to 8 letters, for example, RDDBuser. To change the password, see Changing the Password of a Database Account, and update the new password in eReplication by referring to Update the Password of the Account Used by the eReplication to Access Databases.
    • The password of the BCManager DBA user must meet the following complexity requirements:
      • Contains 8 to 15 characters.
      • Contains at least one special character from ~!@#$%*-_=+\[{}];:,./?
      • Must contain at least two of the following types of characters:
        • Uppercase letters
        • Lowercase letters
        • Digits

  9. Select the eReplication Server installation directory and the system communication IP address, and click Next.

    NOTE:
    • The name of the eReplication Server installation directory can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.). You are advised not to install the eReplication Server on a system disk.
    • The management IP address of the eReplication operating system is used as the system communication IP address. The IP address must be a fixed IP address that the maintenance terminal can access and that supports DR management. The system communication IP address is used to configure certificates only and restrict the HTTPS service bonding of eReplication.

  10. After confirming that the information is correct, click Next.

  11. After the installation and initialization are complete, click OK in the dialog box that is displayed. The start process takes about three minutes.

    NOTE:

If Start up the BCManager software immediately. is deselected, you can click Start System in the program list to manually start eReplication.

  12. After the eReplication Server is started, click OK in the dialog box that is displayed.

Some ports are occupied when the eReplication Server is being started. If those ports are occupied by other applications or the format of port numbers is incorrect, the eReplication Server cannot be started. Under such conditions, you need to change ports and start the eReplication Server again. For details about how to change ports of the eReplication Server, see Changing Ports of the eReplication Server.
    NOTE:
    • Username is admin and Password is Admin@123, by default.
    • For security purposes, log in to the eReplication and change the initial password as soon as possible. For details, see Log In To eReplication.

Follow-up Procedure

  1. After the installation is complete, wait 5 to 10 minutes. After the eReplication Server is started, perform operations described in Logging in to eReplication. If you can log in to eReplication, the installation is successful.
  2. To ensure system security, you are advised to change the passwords of DRManager and ICUser (system account), RDDBUser (database access account), and GaussDB (database administrator account) periodically after the eReplication Server is installed. For details about how to change passwords, see eReplication Account Management.
  3. For security purposes, users may want to use a certificate issued by a third-party certification authority. The eReplication Server allows users to replace user Tomcat certificates as long as users provide authentication certificates and private-public key pairs. For details about how to replace certificates, see Replacing Tomcat Certificates on the eReplication Server.
