Importing the Backup Data of the eReplication Server

Importing the Backup Data of the eReplication Server

Function

This operation imports backup data to recover data on the eReplication Server. Existing data will be overwritten by the backup data. Ensure that the existing data can be overwritten before importing the backup data.

Format

  • Windows: import.bat
  • Linux: import.sh

Parameters

None

Usage Guidelines

  • The version of the backed up configuration data must be consistent with the current software version. Otherwise, protection or restoration services may become abnormal.
  • If the original management server is configured with a remote management server, modify the information about the remote management server on the current management server after the backup data of the original management server is imported into the current management server. Otherwise, exceptions may occur during service operation. For example, A and B are the original management servers and are the local and remote management servers of each other. C and D are the current management servers and are the local and remote management servers of each other. After the backup data of A and B is imported into C and D respectively, you must change the remote management servers on C and D to D and C respectively.
  • In HA scenarios, identify the HA active node, stop the DR systems on both HA nodes, and import data to the active node and start the DR system on the active node. Then, start the DR system on the standby node.
  • Windows
    1. Log in to the eReplication Server as an administrator.
    2. Copy the exported backup file ConfigData.zip to any directory on the eReplication Server, for example, D:\home\configdata.
    3. Go to the installation path\bin directory of the eReplication Server.
      NOTE:

In Windows, the default installation path of the eReplication Server is C:\BCManager\Runtime. The installation path is user-definable. You are advised not to install the eReplication Server on a system disk.

    4. Double-click the shutdownSystem.bat file and enter y to stop the eReplication Server.
    5. Double-click the import.bat file.
    6. Enter y and press Enter.
    7. Enter the save path of the backup data to be imported and press Enter. For example, the save path can be D:\home\configdata\ConfigData.zip.
    8. Enter the data encryption password that is configured during the backup data export and press Enter.
    9. Double-click the startSystem.vbe file to restart the eReplication Server.
  • Non-HA scenarios where Linux is used
    1. Use WinSCP to copy the exported backup file ConfigData.zip to any directory on the eReplication server, for example, /home/configdata.
    2. Use PuTTY to log in to the eReplication Server management server.
      • In template-based installation mode: Log in as user DRManager, and run the su root command to switch to user root.
      • In software package-based installation mode: Log in as user root.
      NOTE:
The default password of user DRManager is Huawei@CLOUD8. In template-based installation mode, the default password of user root is Huawei@CLOUD8!.
    3. Run the TMOUT=0 command to prevent PuTTY from exiting due to session timeout.
      NOTE:

After you run this command, the system continues to run when no operation is performed, resulting a risk. For security purposes, you are advised to run exit to exit the system after completing your operations.

    4. Run cd /opt/BCManager/Runtime/bin command to enter the script save path.
      NOTE:

In Linux, the installation path of the eReplication Server is /opt/BCManager. The path is fixed.

    5. Run the sh shutdownSystem.sh command and enter y to stop the eReplication Server.
    6. Run the sh import.sh command.
    7. Enter the save path of the backup data to be imported and press Enter. For example, the save path can be /home/configdata/ConfigData.zip.
    8. Enter the data encryption password that is configured during the backup data export and press Enter.
    9. Run the sh startSystem.sh command to start the eReplication Server.
  • HA scenarios where Linux is used
    1. Use WinSCP to copy the exported backup file ConfigData.zip to any directory on the eReplication server, for example, /home/configdata.
    2. Use PuTTY to log in to the two management servers of the eReplication Server, respectively.
    3. Run the TMOUT=0 command to prevent PuTTY from exiting due to timeout.
      NOTE:
      • After this command is executed, the system keeps running even when no operations are performed, resulting in security risks. To ensure system security, run the exit command to exit the system after performing required operations.
      • This command must be executed on the two HA management servers of the eReplication Server, respectively.
    4. Run the cd /opt/BCManager/Runtime/bin command to enter the save path of the script.
      NOTE:
      • In Linux, the installation path of the eReplication Server is /opt/BCManager. The path is fixed.
      • This command must be executed on the two HA management servers of the eReplication Server, respectively.
    5. Run sh showSystemStatus.sh command. Based on the command output, identify the active HA server.
    6. Run the sh shutdownSystem.sh command, enter y, and press Enter to stop the eReplication Server service.
      NOTE:
This command must be executed on the two HA management servers of the eReplication Server, respectively.
    7. On the active server queried in 5, run the sh import.sh command.
    8. Enter the save path of the backup data to be imported and press Enter. For example, /home/configdata/ConfigData.zip.
    9. Enter the data encryption password that is configured during the backup data export and press Enter.
    10. On the active server queried in 5, run the sh startSystem.sh command to start the eReplication Server service. After the startup, run the sh startSystem.sh command on the other server.

Example

Linux is used as an example.

linux-h8g4:/opt/BCManager/Runtime/bin # sh import.sh
This operation will be overwrite the database, before restore system, please check and stop the system first, do you want to continue? (y/n):
y
Please input the restore file:
/home/configdata/ConfigData.zip
Please input old encrypt password:
restore successfully. Please restart the Server.
