Impact on the System

  • If the remote device is disconnected, services such as HyperMetro and remote replication between the local and remote storage arrays are interrupted.
  • If the remote device has been degraded, HyperMetro pairs between storage arrays may be interrupted, decreasing system performance and reliability.
  • If the remote device has been degraded, configuring asynchronous remote replication between storage arrays may affect the synchronization speed.

Possible Causes

  • Packet loss or bit errors occur on the local or remote port.
  • Packet loss, disorder, or bit errors occur on the switch.
  • The remote array is faulty.
  • The service load on the local or remote array is too heavy.


  1. Check whether an alarm about the replication link port is generated.

    1. If yes, rectify the fault based on recommended suggestions. If the alarm persists=> Step2.
    2. If no=> Step2.

  2. Check whether the switch related to the replication link is normal.

    1. If packet loss, disorder, or bit errors occur on the switch, rectify the fault. If the alarm persists=> Step3.
    2. If the switch is normal=> Step3.

  3. Check whether the remote array is faulty or powered off.

    1. If yes, rectify the fault. If the alarm persists=> Step4.
    2. If no=> Step4.

  4. Check whether the service load on the local and remote arrays is too heavy.

    1. If yes, contact technical support engineers for capacity expansion and service optimization.
    2. If no, collect related information and contact technical support engineers.
