Possible Causes

  • Cables between the host and the storage array are removed or damaged.
  • Optical modules are faulty.
  • The front-end port is faulty.
  • Interface modules are faulty.
  • Controllers are faulty.
  • The host HBA is faulty.
  • Switches are faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check the HBAs on the host. Contact the HBA provider for help when necessary. If the HBAs have no faults=> Step2.
  2. Check related switches. Contact the switch provider for help when necessary. If the switches have no faults=> Step3.
  3. Check the cables connecting the host and the storage array.

    1. If any cable is removed, reinsert it. If the alarm persists=> 3.2.
    2. Replace the cable. If the alarm persists=> Step4.

  4. Check whether alarms are generated indicating optical module faults.

    1. If yes, handle the alarms by taking recommended actions. If the alarm persists=> Step5.
    2. If no=> Step5.

  5. Check whether alarms are generated indicating port faults.

    1. If yes, handle the alarms by taking recommended actions. If the alarm persists=> Step6.
    2. If no=> Step6.

  6. Check whether alarms are generated indicating interface module faults.

    1. If yes, handle the alarms by taking recommended actions. If the alarm persists=> Step7.
    2. If no=> Step7.

  7. Check whether alarms are generated indicating controller faults.

    1. If yes, handle the alarms by taking recommended actions. If the alarm persists=> Step8.
    2. If no=> Step8.

  8. Collect related information and contact technical support engineers.
