Product Architecture

This section describes the internal and logical architectures of the eBackup software in public cloud backup scenarios.

Internal Software Architecture

Figure 1-1, Figure 1-2, and Figure 1-3 show the internal architecture of the eBackup software.

The eBackup software consists of a backup manager, backup workflow servers, a backup server, and backup proxies.

Table 1-2 describes each component.

Table 1-2 eBackup components

Component

Description

Backup manager

A server that runs the eBackup software, receives backup, restore, and other service requests from upper-layer components, and provides basic system management functions in cloud backup scenarios. The backup manager also provides functions of a backup workflow server.

Backup workflow server

A server runns the eBackup sofeware and orchestrates service processes for backup, restore, and other service requests received from a backup manager in cloud backup scenarios.

Backup server

A server that runs the Backup software, schedules and monitors backup and restore jobs, manages backup storage and production systems, as well as receives and responds to user requests. A backup server also provides the functions of a backup proxy.

Backup proxy

A server that runs the Backup software, receives backup and restore jobs from a backup server, and executes the jobs by interacting with the production system and backup storage.

Maintenance terminal

Provides GUI- and CLI-based management to monitor and manage the backup system and jobs. Users can initiate backup and restore requests through a maintenance terminal.

OpenStack CSBS

A CSBS process for backing up or restoring OpenStack ECSs of tenants.

eBackup driver

A backup driver of the eBackup software based on the OpenStack Cinder backup framework.

Deployed on OpenStack Cinder nodes, eBackup drivers work with OpenStack Cinder backup and restore APIs and invoke eBackup RESTful APIs to back up and restore EVS disks.

If a fault occurs on the eBackup software, refer to Restoring Data in OceanStor BCManager 6.55.0 eBackup Maintenance Guide (Public Cloud) to restore the system.

Logical Architecture

Figure 1-4 and Product Architecture show the logical architecture of the eBackup software in public cloud backup scenarios.
