Scanning Storage Media on Specified Node for Creating or Expanding the Storage Pool

Scanning Storage Media on Specified Node for Creating or Expanding the Storage Pool

Run the following command to scan storage media on specified node for creating or expanding the storage pool:

./dswareTool.sh --op scanMediaForPool -ip ip1,ip2,ip3,... -showHddDetail(optional) true/false

Parameter

Description

./dswareTool.sh

Specifies an executable program for the tool.

--op scanMediaForPool

Scans storage media on specified node for creating or expanding the storage pool.

-ip ip1,ip2,ip3,...

Specifies the target node IP addresses.

-showHddDetail(optional) true/false

Specifies whether to display HDD details. This parameter is optional. The value can be:

true: displays HDD details.

false: does not display HDD details.

An IPv4 example is provided as follows:

dsware@FSM:/opt/dsware/client/bin> ./dswareTool.sh --op scanMediaForPool -ip 192.168.61.33 -showHddDetail true
[Wed Nov 4 14:42:46 CST 2015] DswareTool operation start.
Operation finish successfully. Result Code:0
[Wed Nov 4 14:42:48 CST 2015] DswareTool operation end.

An IPv6 example is provided as follows:

dsware@FSM:/opt/dsware/client/bin> ./dswareTool.sh --op scanMediaForPool -ip 2016:8:40:160:c13:0:169:32 -showHddDetail true
[Wed Nov 4 14:42:46 CST 2015] DswareTool operation start.
Operation finish successfully. Result Code:0
[Wed Nov 4 14:42:48 CST 2015] DswareTool operation end.
NOTE:

The scanning result is saved in the /opt/dsware/client/conf/dsware.xml directory. If the slot numbers of the main storage are not consecutive, set parameter -showHddDetail to true to display the details about the HDD media. Change the value of parameter mediaRole to main_storage (main storage) for the disk to be used as the main storage. In addition, you need to configure start and end slot parameters mainStorageStartSlot and mainStorageEndSlot. You are advised to use normal disks (the value of parameter healthStatus is 0 or 3) as the main storage. If you use disks in other states as the main storage to create a pool, the performance of the pool may be poor.
