Replacing a Battery of a 2288H V5 12-Slot Node or 5288 V5 36-Slot Node

This section describes how to replace a battery.

Impact on the System

Before replacing a battery on a storage node, you must power off the node. This will adversely affect the services running on the node.

Prerequisites

A spare battery is ready.

Precautions

None

Tools and Materials

  • Flat-head screwdrivers
  • Phillips screwdrivers
  • ESD gloves
  • ESD wrist straps
  • ESD bags
  • Labels

Procedure

  1. Log in to the primary management node as user dsware, and run the sh /opt/dsware/client/bin/dswareTool.sh --op setServerStorageMode -ip Management IP address of the faulty node -mode 1 command to switch to the maintenance mode. To run this command, enter the name and password of CLI super administrator account admin as prompted.
  2. Remove the faulty node from its cabinet, and remove its chassis cover. For details, see Basic Operations.
  3. Determine whether to remove the RAID controller card according to node types:

    • For a 2288H V5 node or 5288 V5 node, go to 4.

  4. Remove the air duct.

    Lift the air duct according to the signs on the air duct, as shown in the following figures.

  5. Remove the RAID controller card.

    1. Press and hold down the latches on the RAID controller card cable connectors and pull out the cables.
    2. Unscrew the RAID controller card, as shown in step 1 in Figure 20-3.

    3. Slowly lift the RAID controller card upwards away from the connector on the mainboard, as shown in step 2 in Figure 20-3.

  6. Remove the battery.

    Pull up the right end of the battery and remove it from the slot, as shown in the following figures.

  7. Place the removed battery in an ESD bag.
  8. Take the spare battery out of its ESD bag.
  9. Install the battery.

    Hold the battery with the side marked with text facing upwards, insert the left end of the battery into the slot, and gently press down the battery until it is properly installed in the slot, as shown in the following figures.

  10. Determine whether to install the RAID controller card according to node types:

    • For a 2288H V5 node or 5288 V5 node, go to 11.

  11. Install the RAID controller card.

    1. Remove any rubber plugs from the ports on the RAID controller card, as shown in Figure 20-8.

    2. Align the connectors on the RAID controller card with the ports on the mainboard, and insert the RAID controller card slowly into the mainboard, as shown in step 1 in Figure 20-9.

    3. Screw the RAID controller card, as shown in step 2 in Figure 20-9.
    4. Connect the cables for the RAID controller card.

  12. Install the air duct.

    Align the positioning pins on the air duct with the fixing holes on the mainboard according to the instructions on the chassis, and vertically place the air duct downwards, as shown in the following figures.

  13. Install the chassis cover, and put the node back into the cabinet. For details, see Basic Operations.
  14. Log in to the primary management node as user dsware, and run the sh /opt/dsware/client/bin/dswareTool.sh --op setServerStorageMode -ip Management IP address of the faulty node -mode 0 command to switch to the normal mode. To run this command, enter the name and password of CLI super administrator account admin as prompted.
  15. Connect the storage node to the power sockets and peripheral devices according to the cable connection labels. Ensure that all cables are correctly connected and then power on the storage node. If the storage node is not powered on, press the power button on the front panel.
  16. Check the system status.

    On SmartKit, choose Home > Storage > Routine Maintenance > More > Inspection and check the system status.
    • If all inspection items pass the inspection, the inspection is successful.
    • If some inspection items fail, the inspection fails. Rectify the faults by taking recommended actions in the inspection reports. Perform inspection again after fault rectification. If the inspection still fails, contact Huawei technical support.

Follow-up Procedure

Label the replaced battery to facilitate subsequent operations.
