Precautions When Replacing Parts

This section describes the precautions that should be considered when replacing parts.

Do not touch the connectors of power supplies and communication cables. Current in the power supplies and communication cables may hurt your body when you touch the connectors.

  • Only professional technical support engineers are allowed to remove chassis covers of storage nodes, replace parts, and adjust RAID configurations.
  • Before removing the chassis cover of a storage node to replace the parts in the node, power off the node and disconnect the node from power sockets and other devices.
  • A storage node has two power supplies. Ensure that both power supplies are disconnected.
  • Be cautious to power off a device because this operation will affect services on the device.
  • Do not press F9 to restore default BIOS settings.
  • Do not enable the NUMA function in BIOS.

Observe the following when replacing parts:

  • Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves to avoid injuring yourself and damaging devices.
  • Ensure that the sleeves are fastened or curved to elbows and wear no accessories, watch, glasses with metal frame, and clothes with metal buttons.
  • Do not forcibly plug parts in or out or use excessive force during the replacement. This helps prevent part damage, such as bent pins or short circuits, to the units of the parts or their appearance.
  • Keep the workspace clean.
  • Ensure that devices are properly grounded.
  • Parts replacement figures provided in this document are for reference only. Actual configurations vary with delivered devices.
