Deployment Schemes

FusionStorage supports two deployment schemes, depending on whether compute nodes and storage nodes are deployed on the same servers. Figure 3-1 shows the two deployment schemes.


Compute node: a server that runs application systems

Storage node: a server that provides storage resources

Converged compute and storage node: a server on which a compute node and a storage node are deployed. The server functions both as a compute node and a storage node.

Converged deployment is recommended in small-scale deployment scenarios with 16 or fewer nodes, and independent deployment is recommended in large-scale deployment scenarios with more than 16 nodes.
