Configuring Flow Control for a 25GE Switch

Scenarios

If a storage node uses the RoCE NIC, you need to configure the Layer 2 PFC protocol and Layer 3 ECN protocol for the ports on the access and aggregation switches.

This section uses Huawei CloudEngine 6860 and 12808 switches of the V200R002C50SPC800 version as an example.

Prerequisites

  • You have installed FusionStorage.
  • The switch software to be configured is V200R002C50SPC800 or later, and you have obtained the login information about the switch to be configured.

Procedure

  1. Generate a switch configuration file.

    1. Use PuTTY to log in to a management node as user dsware. The default password of user dsware is IaaS@OS-CLOUD9!.
    2. Run the following command to generate the switch configuration file:

      sh /opt/dsware/client/bin/dswareTool.sh --op getRoceSwitchConfig -mode mode -num num -nicType nicType

      • mode indicates the network mode of the switch. Table 5-5 shows the network mode of FusionStorage.
      • num indicates the number of nodes that use the RoCE network, including compute nodes and storage nodes.
      • nicType indicates the supported RoCE NIC type. 0 indicates the ConnectX-4 NIC, and 1 indicates the Hi822 NIC.

    3. Run the su - root command to switch to user root (default password: IaaS@OS-CLOUD8!):
    4. Run the cd /opt/dsware/client/conf/ command to switch to the /opt/dsware/client/conf/ directory.
    5. Run the following command to generate the SwitchCmdline.txt configuration command file:

      python ConvertSwitchConfig.py /opt/dsware/client/conf/roce_switch_config.xml

  2. Configure an aggregation switch.

    1. Log in to the aggregation switch.
    2. Run all the configuration commands in section Aggregation Switch Config > PFC Profile of the SwitchCmdline.txt file to configure the PFC template.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display dcb pfc-profile default command to view the configuration result.
    3. Run all the configuration commands in section Aggregation Switch Config > ECN Profile of the SwitchCmdline.txt file to configure the ECN template.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display drop-profile ecn command to view the configuration result.
    4. In the port view, run all the configuration commands in section Aggregation Switch Config > Port Config of the SwitchCmdline.txt file in sequence to configure the ports.
      • If the configuration of all the ports are the same, run the port-group group-member Port 1 Port 2 ... command on the switch to add all the ports to the temporary port group. Then, run all the configuration commands in section Aggregation Switch Config > Port Config of the SwitchCmdline.txt file in the switch system view.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display this command in the port view to check the configuration result of the current port.
    5. After the switch configuration is complete, run the following commands in sequence to enter the user view and save the configuration.

  3. Configure an access switch.

    1. Log in to the access switch.
    2. Run all the configuration commands in the SwitchCmdline.txt file (choose Access Switch Config > PFC Profile) to configure the PFC template.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display dcb pfc-profile default command to view the configuration result.
    3. Run all the configuration commands in section Access Switch Config > ECN Profile of the SwitchCmdline.txt file to configure the ECN template.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display drop-profile ecn command to view the configuration result.
    4. In the port view, run all the configuration commands in section Access Switch Config > Upstream Port Config of the SwitchCmdline.txt file on all the upstream ports in sequence to configure the upstream ports.
      • If the configuration of all the ports are the same, run the port-group group-member Port 1 Port 2 ... command on the switch to add all the ports to the temporary port group. Then, run all the configuration commands in section Access Switch Config > Upstream Port Config of the SwitchCmdline.txt file in the switch system view.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display this command in the port view to check the configuration result of the current port.
    5. In the port view, run all the configuration commands in section Access Switch Config > Downstream Port Config of the SwitchCmdline.txt file on all the downstream ports in sequence to configure the downstream ports.
      • If the configuration of all the ports are the same, run the port-group group-member Port 1 Port 2 ... command on the switch to add all the ports to the temporary port group. Then, run all the configuration commands in section Access Switch Config > Downstream Port Config of the SwitchCmdline.txt file in the switch system view.
      • If no error information is displayed, the command is executed successfully.
      • You can run the display this command in the port view to check the configuration result of the current port.
    6. Configure stack ports.

      Stack ports need to be configured only in the stack network.

      1. Check whether the port rate of the stack port is the same as that of the uplink port or the downlink port.
      2. Use the parameters with the same port rate to configure the stack port. For details about the configuration method, see the corresponding port configuration.
    7. After the switch configuration is complete, run the following commands in sequence to enter the user view and save the configuration.
