Logging In to a Node Using KVM

Logging In to a Node Using KVM

Context

A video graphic array (VGA) cable, display, mouse, and keyboard can work together to serve as a KVM. You can connect a display to a storage node using a VGA cable and then connect a mouse and keyboard to the storage node through USB ports. After the display is connected, the operating system login page of the storage node will appear. If the login page is not displayed, press Enter.

Procedure

  1. Connect the storage node to any port from PC1 to PC8 on the KVM, as shown in Figure 5-1.

Figure 5-1 Connecting a storage node to a KVM

  2. Press a number key on the KVM.

For example, to connect the storage node to port PC2 on the KVM, press 2.

  3. Enter a user name and its password.

The default password of user root is Huawei@123.

    NOTE:
    • If the KVM connected to the storage node is not delivered with the storage node, logging to the storage node may fail. In this case, disconnect the KVM and connect a display and a keyboard to the storage node.
    • After a successful login, you can run the TMOUT=0 command to prevent user logout due to timeout.

For security purposes, after the software installation, you are advised to change the default password at your first login and periodically change the password.
