Logging In to the Server Using PuTTY (Network Port Mode)


  • The management terminal communicates with the management network port of the storage node properly.
  • PuTTY has been installed on the management terminal.
    • PuTTY is a piece of Windows-based client software used for remote configuration and management. Visit the chiark website and download PuTTY from the home page.
    • You are advised to use PuTTY of the latest version to ensure a successful login.
    • This document uses PuTTY0.70 as an example.


  1. Run PuTTY on the management terminal.

    The PuTTY Configuration dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-5.

  2. Enter the management floating IP address or node management IP address in Host Name (or IP address). Use the default values for other parameters.
  3. Click Open.

    The PuTTY window is displayed. Then login as: is displayed, prompting you to enter a user name.

  4. In login as:, enter a user name, press Enter, enter the password, and press Enter.
  5. Optional: Run the su - root command to switch to user root.

    To ensure account security, you are advised to change the initial password upon the first login after the software installation and periodically update the password.
