Overview of RSE6500 Stacking

When a single Recording & Streaming Engine (RSE) 6500 does not meet the recording requirements, multiple RSE6500 can be grouped and stacked to expand the overall capacity and specifications.

Service Management Center (SMC) 2.0

The SMC2.0 is a new-generation videoconferencing service management system developed by Huawei. The system provides unified management and centralized control over video communications services for medium- and large-sized enterprises.

Switch Center (SC)

The SC is an H.323- and SIP-compliant server that supports call control and traversal between public and private networks. It allows a maximum of 6000 registration parties and 300 Mbit/s traversal traffic.

Multipoint Control Unit (MCU)

The MCU is an indispensable component in a multipoint conference. It provides functions such as participant invitation, data processing, video exchange, audio mixing, and signaling exchange.


The RSE6500, a recording & streaming engine developed by Huawei, supports 1080p 60 fps point-to-point (P2P) and multipoint HD conference recording, live broadcast and Video On Demand (VOD), and easy-to-integrate APIs and streaming media interfaces. The RSE6500 can work stably and reliably to provide full-HD recording services for all industries.

Huawei videoconferencing endpoints support one-way or two-way real-time communication.

Recording Server Management Platform (RSMP)

The RSMP provides user management, login authentication, rights management, and RSE6500 resource group management.

Ecosystem Software Development Kit (eSDK)

As an open platform for developers, Huawei eSDK enables developers to integrate the open capabilities provided by Huawei's products with their upper-layer applications to create differentiated and innovative solutions.

F5 load balancer

The load balancer developed by F5 Networks uniformly receives all requests and assigns requests to members in a load balancing group based on the preset algorithm.

Main Features

  • Backup mechanism

    To ensure high reliability of an RSE6500 stack, both the RSMP and eSDK Server are deployed in a two-node cluster for mutual backup between the active and standby nodes, and the RSE6500s in the stack work as the backup of each other. The backup mechanism adopted for RSE6500 stacking is described in detail in chapter Backup Mechanism.

  • Basic networking

    The basic networking used for RSE6500 stacking is the multipoint recording network where the SMC2.0 is used. The basic networking adopted for RSE6500 stacking is described in detail in chapter Basic Networking.

  • Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) deployment

    To stack multiple RSE6500s for recording, traversal between public and private networks needs to be implemented. Therefore, deploy the RSE6500 stack in the DMZ. The DMZ deployment is described in detail in chapter DMZ Deployment.
