How Do I Reset the BIOS Password?
If you forget the BIOS password, run the following command on the iBMC CLI to update the HPM package and reset the password:
- Log in to WinSCP and upload the BIOS upgrade package to the /tmp directory of the BMC.Figure A-1 WinSCP window
- Log in to the iBMC and power off the server.
- Start MobaXterm and click Session.
- In the dialog box that is displayed, click SSH and enter the node IP address.
- Log in to the current node server and enter the user name and password.
- In the /tmp directory on the left, check whether the BIOS upgrade package exists, as shown in Figure. If no upgrade package exists, refresh the screen.
- Run the following command to update the HPM package and reset the password:
ipmcset -t maintenance -d upgradebios -v /tmp/biosimage.hpm
- Wait until the BIOS upgrade is complete, as shown in Figure. Log in to the iBMC WebUI and power on the server again.
- If the BIOS version that supports the default password is used, the default BIOS password (see the default password in the TaiShan Server Account List) is restored after the preceding command is run. You can change the password.
- If the BIOS version supports the first-login password function (that is, the BIOS does not have a password by default, and the system prompts you to set a new password when you access the Setup screen for the first time), the system returns to the initial password-free state after you run the preceding command. You can set a new password again.
