Accessing the BIOS
Scenarios
Access the BIOS when you need to set system startup parameters or query the system data.
Procedure
- Connect a local PC with the KVM to the server, or access the Remote Control screen on the iBMC WebUI.

- Power on the server.
- When the screen shown in Figure 3-2 is displayed, press Delete or F4.
- If the system prompts you to enter the current password, as shown in Figure 3-3, go to 4 and skip 5.
- If the dialog box shown in Figure 3-4 is displayed, skip 4 and go to 5.
- Press F12 to boot from the network.
- Press F2 for boot options.
- Press F6 to enter the Smart Provisioning boot screen.
- Enter the current password.In the Input current password dialog box that is displayed, enter the existing password, as shown in Figure 3-3.
- For details about the default BIOS password, see the TaiShan Server Account List. Set the administrator password immediately at the first login. For details, see Setting the BIOS Password. If you do not want to change the password, press Enter when the system prompts you to change the password. The Setup screen is displayed.
- For security purposes, change the administrator password periodically.
- By default, if you enter incorrect passwords for three consecutive times, the screen will be locked. You can set the lock time (Set Lock Time) on the Security tab page and wait for a period of time. Then the screen will be automatically unlocked. You can set the maximum number of incorrect password attempts and the lock duration by setting Set Lock Count and Set Lock Time on the Security tab page. For details, see Security.

- Set and enter a new password.
If the BIOS version supports the first login password function (The BIOS does not have a password by default, and the system prompts you to set a new password when you access the Setup screen for the first time), you must set a new password before logging in to the Setup screen.
- In the displayed dialog box shown in Figure 3-4, press Enter.
- In the Input new password dialog box that is displayed, enter the new password, as shown in Figure 3-5.
The password must be a string of 8 to 16 characters, and contain at least three types of the following characters: special characters (mandatory), uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.
- Enter a new password and press Enter.The dialog box shown in Figure 3-6 is displayed.
- Enter the password again and press Enter.A dialog box is displayed, indicating that the new password is set successfully, as shown in Figure 3-7.
- Press Enter.
The Input current password dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-8.
- Enter the new password.
- Press Enter. The Setup screen is displayed.
