IPMI iBMC Configuration

This section describes system parameters and function control on the IPMI iBMC Configuration screen.

Figure 4-7 shows the IPMI iBMC Configuration screen. Table 4-5 describes the parameters.

Sets the iBMC user name whose user ID is 2.

NOTE:

If Trap Version is set to SNMPv3 and Trap V3 User is set to the iBMC user whose user ID is 2, this parameter cannot be set.

Reset iBMC User Password

Changes an iBMC user password.

NOTE:

The password complexity requirements are as follows:

  • The password must contain 8 to 20 characters.
  • The password must contain special characters.
  • The password must contain at least two types of the following characters: letters and digits.
  • The password cannot be in the weak password dictionary.
  • The password must contain at least two different characters from the old password.

iBMC WDT Support For POST

Sets whether to enable the watchdog during the POST startup. The options are as follows:

  • Enable
  • Disable

iBMC WDT TimeOut For POST

Sets the maximum time (in minutes) for the POST watchdog timer to time out. The value ranges from 15 to 25 minutes.

NOTE:

This parameter is available only after iBMC WDT Support For POST is enabled.

iBMC WDT Action For POST

Sets the action to be taken when the POST timer times out. The options are as follows:

  • No Action: no action is taken.
  • Hard Reset: forcibly reset the OS.
  • Power Down: power off the system.
  • Power Cycle: power off and then power on the OS.
NOTE:

This parameter is available only after iBMC WDT Support For POST is enabled.

Hard Reset

iBMC WDT Support For OS

Sets whether to enable the watchdog during the OS startup. The options are as follows:

  • Enable
  • Disable

Disable

iBMC WDT TimeOut For OS

Sets the maximum time (in minutes) for the OS watchdog timer to time out. The value ranges from 5 to 8 minutes.

NOTE:

This parameter is available only after iBMC WDT Support For OS is enabled.

iBMC WDT Action For OS

Sets the action to be taken when the OS timer times out. The options are as follows:

  • No Action: no action is taken.
  • Hard Reset: forcibly reset the OS.
  • Power Down: power off the system.
  • Power Cycle: power off and then power on the OS.
NOTE:

This parameter is available only after iBMC WDT Support For OS is enabled.

Hard Reset

iBMC & NCSI Select

Sets the iBMC network port type. You can set the management network port or a service network port as the iBMC network port, which is used for communicating with the iBMC. The options are as follows:

  • Dedicated: In dedicated mode, you can use only the management network port on the server to access the iBMC.
  • Shared-PCIe: indicates the PCIe NIC sharing mode. In this mode, you can access the iBMC only through the network port on the PCIe PIC.
    NOTE:

    The Shared-PCIe option is available only when the server is configured with a NIC that supports the network connectivity status indicator (NCSI) function and is connected to an NCSI cable.

  • Adaptive: You can use either the management network port or a service network port to access the iBMC, depending on the network port to which the network cable is connected.
  • Aggregation: In aggregation mode, which is supported by TaiShan 200 servers (including models XA320 and XA320C), you can use only the aggregation network port on the server to access the iBMC.
NOTE:
  • You can select Dedicated and Shared-PCIe to set iBMC IP address parameters for the management network port and the service network port.
  • The options of iBMC & NCSI Select vary according to the server.

Dedicated

NOTE:

The actual value of this parameter varies according to the iBMC policy.

Vlan ID

Indicates the VLAN ID. The value can be 0 (disables the VLAN) or ranges from 1 to 4094 (enables the VLAN).

NOTE:

This parameter is available only when iBMC & NCSI Select is set to Shared-PCIe.

NCSI PCIE Port Select

Specifies the NCSI PCIe network port. The options are as follows:

  • Port1
  • Port2
NOTE:
  • This parameter is available only when iBMC & NCSI Select is set to Shared-PCIe.
  • The value of this parameter varies according to the configured NIC.

NOTE:

The actual value of this parameter varies according to the iBMC policy.

IPv4 Configuration

IP Source

Sets the mode to obtain the iBMC IPv4 address. The options are as follows:

  • Static: uses the static IP address.
  • DHCP: The DHCP protocol is used to dynamically allocate the IP address.
NOTE:

If DHCP is selected, the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address parameters are unavailable.

NOTE:

The actual value of this parameter varies according to the iBMC policy.

IP Address

Sets the iBMC IPv4 address.

Subnet Mask

Sets the subnet mask for the iBMC IPv4 address.

If you select DHCP, the Prefix Length, IP Address, and Gateway Address parameters are unavailable and cannot be configured.
