Information Collection Principle

Information Collection Principle

When collecting fault information, comply with local laws and the user privacy policies set down by carriers and take sufficient measures to ensure that personal data and other sensitive information are fully protected.

Log Anonymity

If log files must be taken out of the fault site during maintenance (fault identification), privacy data may be disclosed. Therefore, you are advised to anonymize log files using the anonymization tool before taking them out of the fault site.

The anonymization tool uses the regular expression to search for strings that meet anonymization conditions from the log file and then anonymizes the strings.

To obtain the anonymization tool, go to and choose the Software tab. In the displayed search box, enter Log Anonymity Tool to obtain the anonymization tool. If this tool cannot be obtained, contact onsite engineers. The following packages can be found in this path:

  • Log_Anonymity_Tool.rar

  • Log Anonymity Tool Operation Guide

For details about how to use this tool, see Log Anonymity Tool Operation Guide.

Information collection principles

Information collection involves using multiple tools and operational pages. To improve the information collection efficiency, familiarize yourself with the use of information collection tools and the information collection methods in advance.

Table 1-1 describes the principles for collecting information in various scenarios.

The VTS tool has been deployed at a site.

  • Use the VTS tool to collect information. VTS-based information collection takes more than 30 minutes. In addition, manually collect the following information for preliminary fault location:
    • Alarms
    • Operation logs
    • Traced messages
    • Performance measurement results
  • The VTS tool can be used to collect information about the following:
    • CGP
    • USM
    • MRP
    • CCF
    • ECS
  • Some NEs do not support VTS-based information collection. Manually collect information about the following:
    • Oracle database
    • SBC
    • U1900
    • IAD
    • Desktop client
    • Mobile client
    • Web conference client
    • SoftConsole

The VTS tool has not been deployed at a site.

Collect all the required information manually.
