Example for Configuring an Agile Distributed WLAN
Networking Requirements
A school plans to deploy a WLAN to cover its dormitory building. However, the dormitory building has a high density of rooms, and WLAN signals are likely to attenuate severely when passing through obstacles between rooms, such as walls.
As shown in Figure 4-1, the central AP connects to and supplies PoE power for remote units (RUs). All RUs (one for each room) and the central AP are uniformly managed by the AC to provide a high-quality WLAN.

Configuration Roadmap
- Configure RUs to go online on the central AP using the configuration wizard.
- Configure WLAN services on the central AP using the configuration wizard.
- Deliver the WLAN services to the RUs and verify the configuration.
Procedure
- Configure system parameters for the central AP.
- Configure APs to go online.
- Configure WLAN services.
# Click Create. The Basic Information page is displayed.
# Set the SSID name and service VLAN ID.
# Click Next. The Security Authentication page is displayed.
# Set Security settings to Key (applicable to personnel networks), select the AES mode, and set the key.
# Click Next. The Access Control page is displayed.
# Set Binding the AP group to default.
# Click Finish.
