Configuring the Auto-Negotiation Function
Context
The auto-negotiation function allows interfaces on both ends of a link to select the same operating parameters by exchanging information. The parameters include the duplex mode and rate. When the negotiation succeeds, the two interfaces use the same duplex mode and work at the same rate. In non-auto-negotiation mode, the operating parameters must be set manually.
- By default, GE interfaces do not support flow control auto-negotiation. You can run the flow-control negotiation command to configure flow control auto-negotiation.
- GE optical interfaces that have FE optical modules installed do not support auto-negotiation function.
- After a GE optical module is installed on a 10GE optical interface, the interface works in auto-negotiation mode by default.
- Only the AR6120-S, AR6121-S, and AR6121C-S can be configured to work in non-auto-negotiation mode.
- Only the AR6120, AR6121K, AR6121E, AR6121, and AR6120-VW can be configured to work in non-auto-negotiation mode.
- Only the SRU-400H, SRU-400HK, SRU-600HK, and SRU-600H can be configured to work in non-auto-negotiation mode.
- Only the SRU-100HH can be configured to work in non-auto-negotiation mode.
