MLD Snooping Configuration
This chapter describes how to configure MLD snooping on a Layer 2 multicast device so that the device can resolve the MLD packets between the upstream Layer 3 device and downstream users. MLD snooping generates and maintains IPv6 Layer 2 multicast forwarding tables to distribute multicast data to only the receivers at the data link layer.
"Switch" mentioned in this chapter or shown in figures refer to routers with Layer 2 multicast functions.
Because MLD snooping is a Layer 2 multicast feature, all the MLD snooping configurations on interfaces mentioned in this chapter are performed on Layer 2 physical interfaces, including Eth-Trunk interfaces.
