Setting the Aging Time of Dynamic Router Ports
Context
Router interfaces send Report messages to upstream Layer 3 multicast devices and receive multicast data packets sent by upstream devices. After Multicast Listener Discovery (ML snooping is configured on the device, the device can dynamically learn router ports and monitor upstream multicast data forwarding in real time. When network congestion or flapping occurs, the dynamic router port does not receive Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) General Query or Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) Hello messages before it times out. The router deletes the interface from the router port list, which causes service interruption. To avoid this problem, you can set a longer aging time.
Procedure
- Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
- Run vlan vlan-id
The VLAN view is displayed.
- Run mld-snooping router-aging-time router-aging-time
The aging time for dynamic router ports is configured.
By default, the aging time of router ports that a device learns from MLD Query messages is 180 seconds and the aging time of router ports that the device learns from PIM Hello messages is the Holdtime value in PIM Hello packets.
